Alpha Psi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. celebrated its 80th anniversary on June 2.
In June 1932, a group of Wilmington educators filed an application to become a chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. Charter members of the local chapter (all deceased) were Alice Wood Lofton, Catherine Howze Copeland, Fannie Penelope White, Bettie E. Graves and Dora Tynes Jones. Elizabeth Green Holmes Saulter attended her college graduation when the chartering ceremony was held.
After 80 years, Alpha Psi Omega Chapter is vibrant and active.
