(as reported by Regis Mann and inlandvalley news)
The “AKA Faith Walkers” marched for a purpose at the 2012 Inland Empire Arthritis Walk on Sunday, April 29, 2012. Indeed, twenty-five members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Eta Nu Omega Chapter (San Bernardino/Riverside), family, and friends assembled at The Promenade Shops at Dos Lagos in Corona, CA to support a wonderful cause. Decked out in their distinct pink and green apparel, the “AKA Faith Walkers” convened with a number of other teams from across the Southern California region and re-committed themselves to finding a cure.
The presence of Ms. Keturah McEwen, former president and current member of Eta Nu Omega, was especially moving for the 2012 “AKA Faith Walkers.” Putting aside the chronic pain of her own arthritis, McEwen courageously joined her teammates on the winding one-mile portion of the course. Even McEwen’s longtime doctors and nurses participated in cheering on the first African-American spokesperson for the Inland Empire branch of the foundation, a memory which the “AKA Faith Walkers,” among others, will carry with them for a lifetime. McEwen’s dedication, like that of all of those suffering from arthritis and related conditions, serves as inspiration to continue the fight to restore healing once and for all.
Keep Walking Sorors!
