SOROR MAYA ANGELOU SPEAKS IN TALAHASSEE

World renowned poet and activist Maya Angelou comes to Tallahassee this weekend to speak at the Leon County Civic Center. She is part of a weekend celebration surrounding 50 years of desegregation of Florida State University.

“This is something you can brag about,” said Angelou. “So many of the conditions that we live in embarrass us. We are placed in the position where we apologize for our city, our state, or our country, but here is something to brag about — to hooray and hallelujah [about]. And I like to be around that, that’s good news.”
